I would like to thank the officers & committee for asking me to judge the stakes classes at this first back to back club show. I had a very enjoyable day, albeit rather long. I’m sure when the wrinkles are ironed out it will be a greater success. I was a little disappointed with some of the exhibits, not expecting them to be nervous as some were, & found the mantles heavy in head pattern.

1st Cottam’s Carbarline Born To Run, 8 months brindle, trying to live up to his name. Just wanted to play & move at full throttle. When he did settle moved well, as his construction said he should. Head is built on the right lines but like dogs of this size needs time to fully develop. Good front & rear angles, neat feet. One to watch for the future; 2nd Ellis’ Khanna Roucandane The Illusionist.

1st Price’s Leamap Chivas Regal, blue, just over a year. Head view from above is correct but profile I found to be a little

deep. Dark eye, good reach of neck, good depth of chest, firm topline, adequate bend of stifle, neat feet, moved well; 2nd Middleton’s Leirumdane Mea Fortuna for Dornoir; 3rd Nunn & Kingsley’s Roshanun Zeus Summum Deum.

1st Kime Rogzdane Out Of Control, 3 years black, decent front & rear angles, nice shape & size, head handles well, dark eye, good neck, firm topline, good tailset, moved OK.

1st Stapleford’s Madjax The Lothario, nicely marked mantle, liked his make & construction, all male, firm topline, good bone, dark eye. Just found his head a little heavy for me but moved well.

PB (6,2a)

1st Stemp’s Zefather’s Against All Odds of Mydane, fawn of good shape & size, correct head pattern, long muscular neck, good lay of shoulder, straight front, nice depth of chest, firm topline, gentle slope over croup, adequate bend of stifle, neat feet, well off for bone, moved very well with good drive from rear. BP; 2nd Burton’s Ravendane Enchanting Dream at Elbarevol; 3rd Chappell’s Selmalda Angel Of Harlem.

JB (4,2) 1 Chappell’s Selmalda The Kiss, 16 months fawn, lovely head pattern, good length & strength, well filled in below dark eyes, triangular ears set correctly. Long arched neck set well into shoulders, straight front, deep chest, well sprung ribs, firm topline, slightly high on rump at this age, will drop with maturity. Nice turn of stifle, strong flat bone, profile gave the appearance of strength & power which showed in her graceful movement. Lovely reach in front & good drive from rear covering the ground with ease. BOB stakes;

PGB (5,1)

1st Drew’s Lindeefay Cover Girl, a young brindle who presents a nice outline. Head handles well, flat skull, equal breadth through, arched neck, good shoulder & upper arm, deep chest, gentle tuck up, level topline, good rear quarters, adequate bone for size & moved well both front & rear. Considered for top honours but would just prefer a tighter & darker eye; 2nd Gray’s Jaydania Tenna See;

3rd Smith’s Jorgeo Contessa of Lambrini.

O (4,3)

1st Brooker’s Beizian Lochsong, stood alone but a worthy winner. Has shape & strength of head yet still feminine. Dark eye, flat skull, clean stop, well placed ears, good length of arched neck, good front & rear quarters, good depth to brisket, elbows tucked in, level firm topline held on the move, adequate bone, neat feet, moved well. When it came to the challenge moved a little close behind. Res Best stakes.
