A great honour for an outsider to be invited by this important breed club to judge for a 2nd time (males) 97 with few absentises! I have to be honest movement in the breed leaves much to be desired, Im well aware in this giant breed pups and yougsters develop at different stages BUT stright shoulders, flicking front pasterns and really weak quaters with little strenth on the hock joint are serious construction faults they were present in far to many, and time will not put them right! I had them all on the day and it came through on the move, your standard is quite clear on movement,Action lithe springy and free, covering ground well, hocks move freely with driving action, head carried high, just wasnt the case in far to many! Much as i love a good head and neck it has to be the overall package! We must remember what this breed was bred to do.

I was sorry to withhold ALL cards except the first 3 in special/yearling judging is about on the day it was not a discision i took lightly,(enough said).

I love this breed haveing won my 1st BIS handling a blue bitch in 1965 under the late Joe Braddon! this was my 6th

time giveing CCs in the UK haveing also judged the breed in Norway,Switzerland, Russia and Australia. Our very best are as good as anywhere the trouble is depth of quality,on the day there was several males i would happily sign a CC for.

My co judge Ms Monica Stravenborn (sweden) and i where in complete agreement on ALL joint decisions.

Best Puppy In Show, yet again the bitch, Garsak Morning Sun, I consider her quite special, a fawn and at this stage in her development you wouldn’t change much! This clever breeder has the nack of produceing one good one after another, this time hes come up with a stunner, will watch her future progress carnt see anything to stop her reaching the very top.
